FOOD FOR THE BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL

Sushi is associated with luxury and wealth. Considered a fetish of the young middle class in Poland and Russia, it has grown to become a social status symbol. At the invitation of the Krasnoyarsk Museum Center, Tomaszewska performed a live preparation of sushi (maki) using local Siberian products: dried fish, pickled cabbage, buckwheat groats. The only traditional element used was nori (the seaweed used to wrap the rice, or in this case, buckwheat groats), brought from Poland. The Japanese delicacy was served on a table set up in front of the museum.
