Mobile workshop
In preparation for the 19th issue of BIURO magazine (published by BWA Wrocław), editors Anna Mituś and Maryna Tomaszewska set up a mobile studio in a rented train car of the Polish National Railway. The journey was symbolic – it represented forward movement and necessary changes in thinking about cultural institutions, their purpose, accessibility, visibility, and involvement in public matters, flexible forms and models of financing, and acting and reacting to challenges that the cultural sector routinely faces: precarity, exclusion, crisis of authority, and cultural education. It addressed the necessity to adopt a responsible position on the threat of global climate change and its catastrophic consequences. BIURO magazine no. 19 was published in the form of a glossary, and consists of more than 120 phrases with definitions, key to the future of the Polish art world and its cultural institutions. It is a serious endeavor seasoned with a bit of humor.
